THE INTELLIVISION SPRINT LAUNCHES TODAY IN EUROPE

A premium revival of the console that redefined smart, sophisticated home gaming

23rd December 2025:  TODAY, PLAION REPLAI officially launches the Intellivision Sprint across Europe.  This premium, faithfully crafted revival of one of gaming’s most intellectually ambitious home consoles arrives just in time for Christmas.  Created in collaboration with Atari, the Intellivision Sprint brings 45 of the system’s finest games back to the living room, fully rebuilt for modern displays while preserving the unique tactility, depth and design philosophy that set Intellivision apart.
 
More than a mini console, the Intellivision Sprint is a respectful, full-blooded recreation of a cult-classic system that once challenged Atari itself during the era known as The First Console War.  Forty-five years later, those former rivals are united, delivering the first official Intellivision hardware revival in decades.  It has been designed for collectors, enthusiasts, and players who value craftsmanship over novelty.

At the heart of the Intellivision Sprint is a curated library of 45 built-in games, spanning sports, strategy, arcade action and experimental design - the areas where Intellivision built its reputation as the ‘smarter’ console of the early 1980s.  The collection includes the first official Intellivision release of Boulder Dash, alongside defining classics such as Astrosmash, Baseball, Shark! Shark!, Utopia, and Night Stalker.
 
Every game includes newly designed controller overlays, restoring the physical interaction that defined the original Intellivision experience.  The full-size disc controllers have been modernised with wireless connectivity and rechargeable batteries, while HDMI output ensures clean, low-latency visuals on TODAY’s TVs.

Alongside TODAY’s launch, Atari has released a Day One firmware update, expanding functionality and refining the user experience from day one.  Available as a downloadable update from Atari’s official website (www.atari.com), the update includes:
 

• High Score Saving: Added support for saving high scores in games that support the feature
• Online Manuals: QR codes added for every built-in game, linking directly to online user manuals
• Improved Game Carousel: Game descriptions and screenshots now remain visible while scrolling through the library

 
To install the update, users will need a USB stick, instructions as follows:
 

1. Format a USB drive to ExFAT
2. Download the updater file from the official Atari support page and place it on the USB drive (some users may need to rename the file to ‘update.zip’)
3. Insert the USB stick into the Port 1 slot on the console (not the rear USB power port)
4. Power on the console, an ‘Update System’ message will appear, followed by

‘Update Successful’

5. Remove the USB drive once the system restarts
