Some Xbox 360 games I think deserve to be backward compatible on the new Xbox Series X

With the Xbox Series X on the way, I took my time to write about Xbox 360 games that deserve to be brought back to life via the Xbox backward compatibility feature. Hop in and read about all the games below. You just might find a hidden gem in there you overlooked!

Conan (2007)

Just like the situation with Castlevania: Lords of Shadow series, this one was also labelled as a God of War clone upon its release. Although after playing it from start to finish, I realized that the game is nothing like God of War. As a matter of fact, this one acts as a much superior sequel to the 2004 Conan game which predates the original God of War by a year.

Conan is a 2007 hack and slash video game developed by the now defunct Nihilistic Software that brought you Vampire: The Masquerade-Redemption, and published by THQ. the aforementioned year was bombing with high quality games that the latter barely stood a tiny chance to shine.

Conan's story is based on the comic of the same name. This time he is on a quest to retrieve his lost armor and defeat the evil wizard. His journey won't be easy as enemies ranging from monsters to regular humans are waiting for him in every corner. However, the barbarian is ready to slice and dice them up to shreds

The gameplay is pretty similar to the likes of Rygar: The Legendary Adventure. Conan is able to fight with two swords this time unlike the previous games along with other deadly weapons. In addition, the barbarian gains experience points by killing his foes which allows him to upgrade his stats and learn different set of combos. Note that the game is as brutal as God of War and Dante's Inferno. You can dismember your enemies' legs and arms and also their heads.

Conan (2007) is a brutal game where you're the monster and enemies are pissing their pants when they see you coming toward them. If you are a fan of hack and slash games, be sure to try this one.

Singularity

''It's as if Timeshift and Wolfenstein 2009 merged together''  I told myself after I finished the game. Unfortunately, Singularity doesn't bring anything new to the table. It just takes other elements from previous first person-shooters, merge them together, and voila, you have yourself an entertaining sci-fi shooter that manages to be lots of fun and feature buckets of blood and gore!

Singularity is a 2010 first-person shooter developed by Raven Software. The latter is notably known for their Soldier of Fortune series which was a success until Payback came upon us.  Now the series became a thing of the past.

The story puts you in the shoes of an American soldier whose job is to stop evil Russians that are trying to distort time for their own wicked gains. Hence, it's up to Renko to step into the battlefield against the soviet union and save earth once in for all.

When it comes to shooting, Singularity plays like any third person shooter out there. Yet while it borrows already used mechanics from other games, its setting will keep you hooked for a while. I am aware that some  might say ''but you say it has something already used before.'' Well, yes, but actually no. There are couple of unique mechanics to try here. For example, time manipulation, controlling your bullet when using a different kind of sniper rifles, throwing objects using your left arm and other mechanics that you can say they are quite different from the already used formula. The only issues with Singularity is how short it is and the lack of replay value once you finish the game.

Those who enjoyed Bioshock, Timeshift, Crysis and Syndicate, will surely like this fine game from Raven Software.

Spider Man: Web of Shadows

After seeing the Spiderman game on the PS4, I had a sudden urge to take a look back at past Spider Man games, and among of these is Spider Man: Web of Shadows. A love letter to comic fans that was made with care and passion. It is quite noticeable that the developers poured all of their love into making this one, and they incorporated many elements from the comic as well. Let us not forget how they included a handful of mainstream Marvel heroes and villains including Wolverine, Kingpin, Venom, Moon Knight, Electro, and others.

Spider Man: Web of Shadows is a 2008 action game that is based on the Spider Man comic. The game was released on the Xbox360, PC and PS3. In case you wondering, the game was actually developed by Treyarch and a defunct studio called Shaba Games.

The story revolves around, you guessed it, our friendly neighborhood Spidey as he is doing his regular daily job until he gets attacked by Venom. Upon touching him, Spider Man gets his power and manages to defeat him. However, while you progress into the game, other villains will start appearing, and Venom will be plotting for the demise of the city by infecting everyone and causing havoc and destruction. It is Spidey's job to end the catastrophe and choose one of two sides, either to forgive Venom for what he did or destroy him completely.

The gameplay is pretty much similar to previous Spider Man games. However, what fascinated me about this game is the comic-book feel. You see, swinging around the city freely until you stumble across a crime scene is just an indescribable feeling. In addition, this release incorporates the best beat 'em up mechanics of any previous game. Spidey is able to perform several combos on the ground, lift his enemies into the air, and execute combos while he's running on the wall. Additionally, he is able to transform into the black suit, and throw cars at his foes and perform other cool techniques not witnessed in previous games.

When I finished the game, the urge of searching for the sequel marched in only to discover that it was sadly cancelled due to poor sales. When reading several ideas for Spider Man: Web of Shadows 2, I discovered that Carnage and other strong foes were meant to make an appearance. Other rumors state that Deadpool was also meant to appear in the entire game. Sadly, this will never happen, hence it remains a mere dream and nothing more.

Gun

Before the appearance of Red Dead Redemption into the gaming zeitgeist, we had something called Gun. The game depicted the brutal and violent life in the old west where the powerful crush the weak and to survive one had to be a master gunslinger.

Gun is a revisionist western-themed action adventure game published by Activision for 6th and 7th generation consoles and PC. If you could believe it, this game was developed by the now defunct Neversoft. The aforementioned was known for developing a slew of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games, Guitar Hero franchise. Sadly, they were shut down by Activision in 2014. Hence, any possibility for a Guitar Hero comeback remains obscure.

Gun puts you into the revenge seeking shoes of Colton White as he hunts down Magruder and his men. Magruder is responsible for killing Ned, the man who raised Colton. During the game Colton will meet trustworthy allies that will share the same ambition as him, but he will also have to encounter backstabbers who work for the villain. It's just an epic tale that doesn't look generic at all. In fact, it will find it's way to reach your heart.

Just like Red Dead Redemption, Gun features a vast open-world to explore filled with a handful of side quests to accomplish. These quests reward you with money and several items that will aid the player to upgrade their weapons, buy items and other things. Gun's gun mechanic is the substantial factor that will absorb you into the game. Colton is equipped with different kind of weapons, bows, and bombs. In addition, players can use ''bullet-time'' mode when faced against a myriad of foes. It will come in handy and will save you from wasting bullets.

If you are a fan of old west gun games, or looking for an alternative to Red Dead Redemption, this one is highly recommended.

Majin and The Forsaken Kingdom

Upon its release some of the big gaming journalist called this game nothing more than a ''Zelda clone.'' However, when I had the chance to play this one, it played more closer to the likes of Ico and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time than any Zelda game.

The story takes you into this flourishing and fruitful kingdom. Afterwards, it gets overtaken by a mysterious darkness which causes calamity and dismay. Many tried to free the kingdom of this curse, but all of them vanished mysteriously. That is why our protagonist, a thief, sets out to free his kingdom of this damn darkness himself. Throughout his journey, he will encounter a mythical Majin, and together they will work together to restore the kingdom to its former glory.

In brief, the game plays like the games I mentioned above, but what's interesting about this game is the overall beautiful look of the game world. Additionally, teaming up with the beast to solve puzzles, destroy enemies, jump from a place to another and power up together, is simplistic yet beautiful. I wish to see more games like these in the near future anytime soon. Seriously, if you are looking for a beautiful game, you should try this one.

WET

WET  is like a combination of Max Payne and Tomb Raider, but with a sword on the back. In case you are wondering why the game is titled ”Wet,” well, it refers to wet work which means a messy job or task that involves killing a large number of enemies in a brutal way.

The game's story puts you in the shoes of the female protagonist named Rubi Malone as she is thrown into a merciless world filled with murderers, drug dealers,  double-crossers and other assholes. Rubi is a bounty hunter who is tasked with dangerous missions in which she has to hunt down her targets and finish them off once in for all.

The gameplay is where Wet rocks. It’s a combination of Stranglehold and Tomb Raider. Rubi is able to take on a plethora of enemies using her sword and her two guns. Rubi can also perform acrobatic movements that range from running on walls to grabbing on ledges and jumping around from corner to corner. This, in particular, enables the player to activate bullet-time action which allows the protagonist to rain down infinite bullets onto your enemies. If any game deserves to be backward compatible, it's definitely has to be WET.
