Modern Warfare Spec Ops Survival Mode to be PS4 timed exclusive: Taylor Kurosaki says it's only 1% of the game

First Call of Duty Modern Warfare used a copyrighted image in their beta as reported by the Geek Getaway in this post.  Now, it seems the game will be missing a significant portion on Xbox and PC for almost an entire year. You see, the Special Ops Survival Mode, not the entire Special Ops mode, will be exclusive to the PS4 until October 1, 2020. This was revealed during Sony's State of Play on September 24, 2019. Now, Taylor Kurosaki, Narrative Director at Infinity Ward, says that it is only 1% of the overall game.

Let’s be honest, “ruining” is an exaggeration. Survival is 1% of the game. The other 99% is simultaneous day and date across all platforms. I’d rather have everyone playing 99% of the content at the same time than 100% of the content some time later.

 Now, I don't know about the rest of you out there but for me the survival modes in Call of Duty games are my most played modes. I don't have the greatest online connection so playing online multiplayer is pretty hit or miss, the campaign mode is usually something I eventually get to, and the local multiplayer is only good when I can get a full group together to play. Now, the local survivor mode is something I can play with my kid over and over again without growing bored. We think of new strategies, work out coordinated tactics, and/or just go crazy trying not to die. For me, that 1% of the game represents 99% of my Call of Duty game time. Whoever made the decision to make this mode a timed exclusive for PS4 should be ashamed of themselves.

Now, some may argue that it is only a timed exclusive, no big deal but the fact that it is a year long deal means that people on Xbox and PC will most likely be getting ready for the next Call of Duty game by the time they can finally play the full version of the game they purchased. It doesn't matter if it really is 1% of the game missing, 50%, or even .001%. The fact of the matter is they are charging full 100% price for less than 100% of a product and that isn't right, moral, nor any way to treat your customers.
